After the new Special Consumption Tax (engine capacity method) becomes effective as from 1st April, 2009, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV) has reduced the prices of its luxury sedans C200K Elegance and E200K Avantgarde.

The two models enjoy a lower SCT of 45% (previously: 50%) and therefore have price reduction of USD2,000. The new prices, applied from April 1, are 59,990 USD for C200K Elegance and 79,900 USD for E200K Avantgarde.
“We are pleased that from now Vietnamese customers can enjoy lower prices. The 4 cylinder engines of Mercedes-Benz of below 2.0 liters are powerful with 184hp, giving same performance as cars with bigger engines. The good news is our efficient, eco-friendly engines have become even more affordable from April 1,” said Dr. Udo Loersch, General Director of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam.

“Mercedes-Benz is the only CKD automobile manufacturer in Vietnam that meets the stringent EURO4 emission standards with exceptional performance on these engines”, he added.

Under the new system, SCT is 45%, 50% and 60% respectively on passenger cars up to 9 seats with cylinder capacity <2.0l,> 3.0L.

Honda NSX development shifts to new super hybrid sports car - report

Người đăng: Car IN Club Chủ Nhật, 16 tháng 8, 2009 0 nhận xét

new car, honda car
The Honda NSX may yet surface but not as the 5.5-litre V10 rocket that it was initially supposed to be. Having shelved the project in late 2008 reports suggested that virtually nothing could be done by Honda to salvage it. That is until now.

It appears that automakers are steadily shifting towards the green sports car and the NSX could be the next one on the list. A rumour has surfaced that says not only is the NSX back on track but it will now ditch the petrol V10 for a next generation "valveless throttle" 3.5-litre V6 with a hybrid system.

In total the car would produce about 330kW (450PS), effectively taking it out of Nissan GT-R territory and putting it squarely against the Toyota FT-HS as well as the likes of the Audi RS 5 and the BMW M3. However the added weight of the batteries and other hybrid apparatus could negate its performance potential. So the times previously posted by the V10 at the Nurburgring might be revised.

The company's SH-AWD system is to be used and placed on an aluminium platform. No launch dates are yet mentioned, but given that the original V10 car was expected to launch in 2010, the hybrid version could follow along similar lines.

new car: 2010 Acura ZDX

A new Acura model will go on sale in the North American region this coming winter. The 2010 ZDX is a four-door coupe which has an elevated position and can sit up to five adults. It also comes with extra utility capabilities such as expandable storage facilities and additional hidden storage compartments.

Based on the prototype ZDX which was shown at the 2009 New York Auto Show, the production version has that sloping rear end, bold fender flares, a panoramic glass roof and hidden rear door handles. Standard wheels are 19-inch 7-spoke alloys which happen to be the largest standard rims in the Acura range.

Power will be sourced from the 3.7-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine that generates 221kW (300hp) and maximum torque of 366Nm (270 lb-ft). Selecting the gears is a 6-speed automatic that comes with steering wheel-mounted paddles for quick changes. Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD) system is standard with all ZDX models.

In the range are three levels of trim; a ZDX, a ZDX with Technology Package and the ultra premium ZDX with Advance Package. They all offer a hand-stitched leather dash, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB audio interface, an iPod connection and a CD player. Upwards of the range features that reflect a higher level of trim and price like satellite navigation, a new multi-view rear camera and adaptive cruise control are factored in.

Acura will announce all details pertaining to cost closer to when the car is launched. However, it will be priced and positioned between the MDX luxury SUV and the RL luxury sedan.

New photos of the 2010 Acura RDX facelift have leaked out, and they appear to be officially produced by the automaker. While the photos mainly focus on the front of the car, we also can decipher some changes at the back.

The photos show a sport utility vehicle with a drastically restyled front end, that includes extensive modifications to the air intakes, fog lamps, and grille. Although there is not a clear shot of the entire rear of the RDX, we can see three clear details: hexagonal tailpipes, part of a redesigned rear bumper that better incorporates the exhaust, and the use of some black mesh material at the center. We particularly like the new wheels.

Rumor has it that the unveiling of the facelift will coincide with the introduction of a 2WD model. This new model would see a cut in weight by as much as 200 pounds, while increasing fuel economy beyond the current model's 19 mpg (combined). However, we do not expect any engine offerings beyond the current units.

New comfort features should include ambient lighting, Bluetooth compatibility, and a USB jack with room for an iPod. XM radio and Acura's up-to-the-minute traffic and weather systems could be included with the purchase of the sat-nav. Also look for a new rear camera, with a monitor embedded in the rearview mirror.

With today's leak, we would not be surprised to get official word from Acura about the RDX sometime soon.

new car, car 2011
Infiniti has released official photos of the new 2011 M37 and M56 sedans upon its unveiling at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Revealed through a unique video mapping process, in which a ‘virtual M' was created on a 3D form, it is the world's first ‘virtual only' (no physical vehicle) automotive application of this cutting-edge technology.

Featuring dynamic styling, inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept, the new M sedans have an aggressive appearance with elegant detailing. The front end is dominated by a massive grille which is beautifully integrated into the flowing lines of the hood and front bumper. Further back, the character lines rise above the rear wheels to help give the M a "hunkered down" stance.

Inside, the 2011 M sedan is a huge improvement over its predecessor. Materials and build quality seem excellent, while the flowing design helps to add interest. As before, the center stack is dominated by a large display, "top-mounted" controls, and plenty of wood trim. Oddly enough, the car appears to feature two different controls knobs: one on the center console and another below the navigation system.

While official specifications weren't released, the M37 should adopt a 3.7-liter V6 engine with 328 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the M56 will likely boast a 5.6-liter V8 with at least 390 hp. In Europe, the M56 will be replaced by a "V6 performance diesel".

Look for the M sedans to make their public debuts later this year, with sales scheduled to begin in spring 2010.

New front grill and bumper as well as rear apron on offer from German tuner for the A3 Cabriolet

German tuner Hofele has a few added touches for your Audi A3 cabriolet.

For the face of the always adorable A3 convertible, the single-frame front bumper provides for a GTS-look, featuring large air intakes on each end. The GT-bumper also includes a fog-light kit which can be ordered separately.

Hofele also has its own S3-like, sporty front grill in both black and silver for those who want something more than just a change in bumper.

At the back, a new rear apron is offered which can be simply glued to the existing one of the A3 non-top. This "Diffusor" is made out of PKG material and is offered for both a quad sport exhaust system or for the serial one from the standard production model.

Caps for the headlamps washer are also to be had and the Hofele badge to be placed next to the A3 moniker on the rear hatch offers another subtle touch.

Handwriting-recognition feature for navigation system will allow drivers to simply write out a destination name by hand

Reports have surfaced that the next-generation Audi A8's satellite navigation system will feature handwriting-recognition software so that drivers can enter destinations by hand rather than writing them out by dialing through the system.

The point of the new technology is to do away with cumbersome keypads and eliminating the need to use dials to select letters to spell out destination names. This way, the driver simply writes the destination by hand and the software recognizes it instantly.

Current A8 models also feature fingerprint recognition technology, so that a driver can return all of the car's settings, including seat adjustment, to their personalized preferences.

The new Audi A8 is expected to debut sometime later this year and go on sale in 2010.

But hey, isn't the whole point of a computer that you don't have to write things out by hand, olden times-style?

And how come voice-recognition hasn't worked out?

Technology: supposed to make things simpler - only makes them more complicated.

Photos snapped on a highway in the Southwest of the United States may picture next-generation Audi A8
Could this be a new Audi A8?

We should not assume anything here (because you know what that does) but it does seem like this is a short-wheelbase A8 under an A6 shell carrying an upside-down Mitsubishi badge and jet-fighter front grill.

This scoop comes to us courtesy of a VW Vortex forum and Autoblog, and the photos show what is definitely not a Mitsubishi driving along the highway in the Southwest of the United States. The road warrior (Autoblog reader Ryan on a cross-country trip) who snapped the pictures believed it to be a new A6 undergoing testing, after having spotted some camouflaged VW Routan's earlier in the trip. But the details (and Audi's product time-line) seem to point to a new A8 iteration.

A next-generation A8 was expected to debut at the Frankfurt motor show this September, although, there seem to be no indications from Audi that that will occur. But the new A8 is expected to make its debut in the market sometime in the latter part of 2010.

Looking at the design features of the model pictured here, the furrowed-brow headlights, linebacker shoulder lines, bonnet ridges and the long, swooping C-pillar all point to a flagship Audi sedan.

By the way, is Audi allowed to use a Mitsubishi badge as a cover for a prototype?

Just asking.

Special Edition S5 Quattro will be 240 kg lighter and come with over 400 bhp

Audi has something called Project Anniversario to celebrate the anniversary of...something.

Yes, well the anniversary would have been Audi's centennial this year (2009) but the project has been delayed somewhat due to the financial crisis that has hit the automotive industry.

So what Audi is planning for Project Anniversario is a super S5 Quattro for 2012.

The car will likely take some inspiration from the old Quattro S1 Rallye in terms of styling and may come with a twin-turbo juiced V6 with somewhere around 425 bhp or a variation on the current TT RS's 2.5 liter, turbocharged 5-cylinder, dialed up to about 400 bhp.

The new S5 will be lighter, shaving about 240 kg off the standard S5, and weighing in at about 1400 kg (3086 lbs). This will be achieved by using light-weight body panels, shorter overhangs (like on the Quattro S1 Rallye) as well as lighter parts for the drivetrain.

The artist's rendering features wings, bonnet inlets and a rear spoiler, all who's design is influenced by the S1.

A reliable guess is that the Project Anniversario S5 will make its debut sometime around the end of 2010, as a celebration of the original Quattro's 30th anniversary. But the car won't make it to showrooms until the following year as a 2012 model.

Audi has formally announced UK pricing for the 2010 Audi S5 convertible. The flagship model will start at £42,245, including all taxes and fees.

The real news here is Audi's inability to get the car on the road during the summer months, considered the prime cabrio purchasing season. Sadly, the S5 will not be delivered until October at the earliest, meaning new customers will be praying for an influx of global warming to show off a lowered ragtop.

Using a 333 PS supercharged V6 TFSI, the fun car makes use of a robust 440 Nm of torque when getting the car to 62 mph. The car completes the sprint in 5.6 seconds, with a limited top speed of 155 mph. The vehicle gets a combined mpg of 29.1, while emitting 224 grams of carbon per kilometer.

If the weather is good enough to lower down the top, it will only take you 15 seconds to do so. If it starts raining (after all, this is the U.K. we're talking about), you can raise the top back up in 17 seconds. Either way, you only have to slow down to 31 mph to change the top's status.

An Audi dealer in the U.K. seems a little anxious to start selling the R8 Spider.

Stafford Audi has posted a classified ad and claims to have begun taking orders on the prospective Audi R8 Spider. The low-resolution photograph, pictured in this story, has been used in the ad. It features a soft-top version of the R8.

But that photo comes from a film set. It's an R8 convertible being used in the movie Iron Man 2, sporting what appears to be a California license plate that says 'Stark'. For what the real R8 Spider will look like, we will have to wait until the Frankfurt motor show in September where Audi has said the Spider will be unveiled. Or until the Geneva auto show in March 2010, if the debut is delayed, as often happens with such supercar models.

One has to wonder what Audi thinks of this dealer and whether they will take any action against the franchise. After all, how exactly did Stafford Audi arrive at the price it has set for the R8 Spider £105,000 (or $173,500 / €122,700)?

The dealership claims the R8 Spider will only be coming with the 525 hp, 5.2 liter V10 engine of the R8 V10 model. But an Audi spokesperson has previously said the R8 Spider would also come with the 420 hp, 4.2 liter V8.

Sounds like this dealership is getting ahead of itself. But sooner or later the model will make it to their showroom.

For a number of years now major automakers' favourite flavour at international motor shows has been the hybrid system. Now a new dawn is upon us and it is the dawn of full electric power. Rumours that have been doing the rounds for a while are suggesting that Audi will be one of those who unveil an electric sports car concept at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. It will take the form of an R8.

Supposedly the car will be called the R8 ePerformance. Power is to come from large powerful batteries and an electric motor to drive the wheels, so it will not be a hybrid but a complete electric-powered car.

It is thought that such a car will show some notable exterior differences from its petrol brethren since a lot of the parts are function over form. These include removing the huge air intakes which are unnecessary for an electric car. Also the side gills and rear side intakes will be modified for a different purpose. After popularising the front LED lights the R8 will show a new white version of the bulb as well.

Audi's one rival Mercedes-Benz has already confirmed its plans to produce an electric SLS AMG supercar while speculation is that BMW will go the same route in the near future.

Audi has announced US pricing for the highly anticipated R8 V10 will start at $146,000. R tronic models will carry a hefty $9,100 premium, as their base price is $155,100.

To help differentiate the model, Audi equips the supercar with full-LED headlights, 19-inch Y-design forged aluminum alloy wheels, modified sideblades with larger air intakes, and a revised grille with additional chrome accents. Other unique updates include new rocker panels, dual oval exhaust tips, a larger rear diffuser, and plenty of V10 badging.

Inside, the car comes nicely equipped with a navigation system, a 465-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system, SIRIUS satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and heated sport seats.

Power comes from a 5.2-liter FSI V10 engine which produces 525 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. This enables the R8 V10 to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 196 mph.

The first two cars have already been delivered, they were auctioned off for a combined total of $850,000, and official shipments will begin this week.

German tuning firm Mcchip has unveiled two new performance options for Audi's recently launched TT-RS.

The €899 Stage 1 package consists of a retuned ECU module which boosts the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine's output from 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque to 380 hp and 550 Nm of torque. Although full performance data wasn't released, Mcchip did state that the car's top speed has been increased to 300 km/h (186 mph).

In a few weeks, the company will introduce a Stage 2 package which boasts more than 400 hp. While official performance numbers are still pending, the company strongly suggests that only experienced drivers opt for the package.

On the styling front, the Mcchip Audi TT-RS wears €6600 Cargraphic GTR 9x20 wheels wrapped in high performance 255/30 R20 Continental rubber.

When it was first rolled out three years ago, the Audi Q7 performance SUV immediately achieved a leadership position – as a sporty, comfortable as well as high-performance recreational and business vehicle on a grand scale. Now Audi is making it even better – more elegant and more efficient, with lower emissions: the Q7 3.0 TDI consumes only 9.1 liters per 100 kilometers (25.85 US mpg). And now it’s also available in a new version as a TDI clean diesel, with the world’s cleanest diesel technology and even lower fuel consumption of only 8.9 liters/100 km (26.43 US mpg).

The Q7 is the large Audi for sporty individualists, for people who are seeking a vehicle that will take them anywhere they want to go for sports, recreation, and business. Its dynamic proportions and distinctive lines express this character, and subtle modifications endow its styling with even more elegance.

The design: The language of dynamics

At the front end, the large single-frame radiator grille has been redesigned. Vertical chrome bars contrast with its black high-gloss finish. The bumpers too have been restyled. Their lower section is now painted in a contrasting black or gray, depending on the body color. The newly integrated underbody protection in the center section of the bumper has a distinctive ribbed design.

As alternatives to the standard halogen headlights, Audi offers a xenon plus variant and a new adaptive-light system that integrates not only low-beam, high-beam and a special superhighway beam but also turning and cornering lights. In conjunction with the xenon headlights, light-emitting diodes assembled to form
U-shaped bands provide the daytime running lights. The front blinkers are also composed of LEDs as straight-line arrays, located at the upper edge of the air intakes.

The side view too, with its coupe-like roofline, low window area and tautly curved body surfaces, reinforces the dynamic look of the Q7. Door moldings have been modified to add interest. The lightweight alloy wheels are size 7.5 J x 18, the wheels size 235/60. In the V6 vehicles they have seven spokes, in the V8 versions they have six.

At the rear end, the bumper has also been given two-tone paintwork; the tailgate, which includes a portion of the rear pillars in an S-shaped contour, has been given a new and distinctively 3D shape in the vicinity of the license plate bracket. To reduce the weight of the Q7, the tailgate has been made of aluminum, as have the engine hood and the fenders. Standard LEDs in the tail lights create a distinctive lighting pattern.

Eleven paint finishes for the Audi Q7 include four new shades: Ibis White, Graphite Gray, metallic, Teak Brown, metallic, and Orca Black, metallic. An aluminum exterior package is optionally available from Audi: gleaming chrome bars in the bumpers and door moldings; the lower portion of the bumpers is painted in the body color; the center portion of the front apron and the diffuser are painted in a contrasting shade.

The interior: Room to spare

Thanks to its luxurious 300-centimeter (118.11-inch) wheelbase within an overall length of 5.09 meters (16.70 feet), the Audi Q7 has interior room to spare, and the interior flexibility is unrivalled. The seatbacks in the second row are divided into three fold-down sections to provide a level cargo floor.

This increases the luggage space from a volume of 775 liters (27.37 cubic feet) to 2,035 liters (71.87 cubic feet). With the leather upholstery option, the middle seat now has an even more comfortable contour.

Two very useful features are optionally available: either a longitudinally displaceable second seat row or individual comfort seats that are separately displaceable. Another available option is a third row for passengers no taller than 1.60 meters (5.25 feet), combined with an improved easy entry function.

A multitude of detailed improvements in the interior enhance the elegance and the sense of well-being. The instrument cluster has been redesigned: the large, round, easily readable instruments are encircled by metallic frames. Interior lights in the door linings and an inlay on the passenger side enhance the interior styling. Many details of the control elements have been restyled and also enhanced by chrome elements.

The selection of interior colors and materials is also new. Upholstery fabrics are available in black and light gray; leather upholstery additionally also in Para Brown, Savannah Beige and Cardamon Beige. Standard inlays are finished in matt black. In optional design packages, aluminum and wood finishes are used.

The power train: Performance and efficiency

The Audi Q7 is available with six powerful and highly efficient direct injection engines, two of them gasoline-powered and four diesel engines, including the world’s most powerful diesel SUV, the Audi Q7 V12 TDI. Their power is transmitted via a convenient and fast-shifting six-speed tiptronic to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive, which distributes it between the axles with slightly more than half to the rear.

The 3.0 TDI puts out 176 kW (240 bhp) and delivers as much as 550 Nm between 2,000 and 2,250 rpm, yet on the EU cycle it consumes only 9.1 liters / 100 km (25.85 US mpg). The optionally available 3.0 TDI clean diesel even consumes 0.2 liters (0.05 US gallons) less.

Despite highly complex exhaust gas recirculation and the resulting world’s cleanest diesel technology, it consumes just 8.9 liters/100 km (26.43 US mpg). It meets the strict ULEV II Bin 5 US standard and already complies with the Euro 6 limits announced for 2014.

The technology of the TDI clean diesel is highly complex. An advanced version of the common rail injection system with 2,000 bars of pressure, new combustion chamber sensors and a high-performance exhaust recirculating system ensure a highly efficient combustion process. An innovative DeNOx catalytic converter reduces the remaining nitrogen oxides. Just upstream of it, a pump injects an additive named AdBlue into the hot exhaust flow, where this solution decomposes into ammonia, which splits the nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water. Audi partners replenish the additive during regular maintenance servicing.

In the Q7 4.2 TDI too, fuel consumption has been drastically reduced – from 11.1 (21.19 US mpg) to 9.9 liters per 100 km (23.76 US mpg). Yet the V8 diesel is more powerful: with an output of 250 kW (340 bhp) and a torque of 760 Nm, it develops enormous propulsive power. This maximum torque is available in the range from 1,750 to 3,000 rpm.

At Audi, efficiency and dynamics go hand in hand. That’s also the case in gasoline engines. The 3.6 FSI, a V6 with a small cylinder angle, has a power output of 206 kW (280 bhp) and delivers 360 Nm between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. Its average fuel consumption is 12.1 liters per 100 km (19.44 US mpg). The 4.2 FSI, a V8, delivers 257 kW (350 bhp) and 440 Nm at 3,500 rpm. Its fuel consumption is 12.7 liters/100 km (18.52 US mpg).

A novel technology from the Modular Efficiency Platform further improves fuel efficiency in all the engines: the recovery system, which during braking and coasting phases converts mechanical energy into electric energy and buffer-stores it in the battery. It reduces CO2 emissions by up to 5 g/km (8.05 g/mile).

The chassis: Safe and sporty

In its suspension technology too the Audi Q7 is exceptional. As a customer option, Audi equips the Q7 with adaptive air suspension – a pneumatic suspension system that operates in conjunction with an electronic shock absorber control, varies the ground clearance at five different levels, and lets the driver select three driving modes: comfort, automatic and dynamic. In its road handling the Q7 excels in its sporty, highly responsive precision. Off-road, it provides a superior ride on widely varying terrains.

The choice of wheels ranges from 18 inches to the 10 J x 21 top version with 295/35 tires. Ten different designs are available, including two very elegant, high-luster, bicolor versions. Large brake discs provide superb deceleration – with
18-inch diameters front and rear.

Optionally available in the eight-cylinder models are carbon-fiber ceramic disk brakes which further enhance the dynamic character of this performance SUV: they are lighter than their steel equivalents, extremely abrasion-resistant and virtually fading-free. They achieve high driving performance and ensure short braking distances. The diameters of the ceramic discs are 420 millimeters
(16.54 inches) in front and 370 millimeters (14.57 inches) at the rear. The calipers are black and adorned with the wording “Audi ceramic”. A total of 24 pistons are used on the front and rear axles.

The equipment: Luxury and high-tech

The Q7 comes with a splendid range of standard equipment. The speed-dependent servotronic steering system is standard, as is a double floor in the cargo area complete with a storage compartment and a dirt tray; there is also a roof rack, an automatic air conditioning system, and an MMI radio operating system complete with a CD audio player and eight loudspeakers.

The option program includes luxury features such as the remote key and four-zone automatic air conditioning. Another high-end option is the climate-controlled comfort seat, which can keep the body warm or cool it by means of small fans.

Particularly dynamic Q7 drivers may wish to consider one of two other quality option packages. The S line exterior package enhances the styling with details such as distinctive bumpers and a solid paint finish. The S line sports package includes a black interior, sport seats with Alcantara leather or Verano leather upholstery, aluminum trim (optionally in piano lacquer finish or birch grain wood), special exterior colors, 20-inch wheels, and a firmer setup for the steel spring suspension or the adaptive air suspension.

The Q7 also offers many intelligent solutions for the practical needs of everyday use – such as an electric luggage space cover, a reversible floor mat, a set of luggage rails, a removable ski bag, and a moveable storage box. The options program includes separation grids, an interior bicycle stand, various roof-mounted carriers, a distinctive off-road styling package, and a pivoting trailer hitch: this powerful SUV can tow up to 3.5 metric tons.

In the infotainment field, Audi provides a carefully differentiated selection of modules. The three optional systems are part of the new generation of Audi devices. The top-of-the-line version integrates a hard drive for navigation, music and telephone data, a high-resolution color monitor and 3D map graphics, a DVD player as well as voice control. It can be expanded into a luxury media center with features such as a Bluetooth telephone, a TV tuner, a digital radio tuner, plus rear seat entertainment. A very special highlight is the advanced sound system from Bang & Olufsen with its ten channels, 505 watts of power and 14 loudspeakers.

The range of optional equipment is rounded off by technologies from the luxury class. The radar-supported adaptive cruise control regulates the speed and the distance to the preceding vehicle in a range from 30 to 200 km/h (18.64 to 124.27 mph) by acceleration and deceleration. If a threat is detected, the integrated Audi braking guard warns the driver at two levels.

From a speed of 60 km/h (37.28 mph), Audi lane assist helps the driver stay in lane by means of a camera that recognizes the lane lines. Audi side assist ensures safe lane changes above 30 km/h (18.64 mph) with the aid of a radar system that monitors the traffic pattern within 70 meters (229.66 feet) behind the vehicle. Finally, the Audi parking system advanced assists parking by means of a rearview camera and reference lines on the onboard monitor.

The world’s strongest diesel SUV: The Audi Q7 V12 TDI

Even when it was first rolled out, the Audi Q7 V12 TDI, the world’s strongest diesel SUV, had a uniquely distinctive look resulting from its large air intakes. The new version features modifications to the interior and the rear end.

The V12 diesel, with a 6-liter (6,000 cc) engine closely related to that of the R10 TDI racing car – a triple Le Mans winner – delivers 368 kW (500 bhp) and develops a torque of 1,000 Nm between 1,750 and 3,250 rpm.
Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 5.5 seconds and a capped top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph) equal the driving performance of a powerful sports car. Despite these impressive performance data, the V12 diesel gets by on an average of 11.3 liters of fuel per 100 km (20.82 US mpg). Its luxurious standard equipment includes 20-inch wheels, a Bose sound system, and many additional features.

Fresh off of successfully introducing its premium Genesis sedan and sporty Genesis coupe, Hyundai Motors is planning to turn everything up a notch by introducing its largest sedan, the Equus, to the US market. Hyundai has been testing the sedan in the U.S. all summer to gauge dealer and customer reaction, deciding that the market for the Equus is favorable, thus its planned introduction. Hyundai expects to begin shipment of the sedan late next year. The automaker will hold a "soft launch" of the Equus at this year's Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance.

Hyundai first introduced the Equus to American consumers at this year’s New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) and claims that visitor reaction to the sedan was highly favorable. Soon thereafter, Hyundai decided to import one hundred examples of the big sedan to the US market for display in select dealerships. In Hyundai's official press release, the automaker indicates that the Equus was well received, which allowed the go-ahead for the Equus' launch in America.

The Hyundai Equus shares the same rear wheel drive platform that underpins the successful Genesis sedan. Stretched by 4.3 inches, the larger Equus offers a more limousine look and room than the Genesis. The USDM Equus will be powered by the 4.6L Tau V6 that produces 375 horsepower. The more potent 5.0L V8, confirmed recently for the long wheelbase model in the Korean market, may also arrive, but there is no confirmation on that.

For now, Hyundai will retail the Equus in select Hyundai dealerships across America (100 to 200). Executives stressed that a premium brand is still in the works for the North American market. With regards to pricing, we speculate the Equus to start just north of the fully-loaded Genesis' sticker price, which is $42K. Hyundai executives also noted that buyers will have the choice of either a hood ornament or a simpler emblem. The final name of the US-market model has not been revealed, but we speculate that the Equus nomenclature will carry over.

More details will be posted as they become available.

The first spy pictures of the Hyundai Equus sedan in long-wheel-base mode have been unleashed. They were taken in Ulsan, South Korea. Hyundai is apparently not satisfied with merely using the upcoming Equus to challenge the Germans in the upper luxury crest but also wants to match them pound for pound. These pictures of the LWB underline Hyundai's belief that competitor customers are willing to move into its upmarket brand. Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz all have LWB versions of their most expensive sedans. Closer to home, Lexus also sells the longer LS460 L.

The spied model features a different front grille which is speculated to be a mere recycled prototype design. It also has LEDs at the front. At the back of it is a badge designating VL500 which clearly ranks higher than the VS460 badge worn by the current Equus range-topper.

Planted into the engine bay is the new 5.0-litre Tau V8 engine worth over 400hp (294kW). The interior should boast class-equalling amenities and a high quality finish.

The standard wheel base Equus is expected to debut in the US in 2010 as a 2011 model where prices should exceed US$50,000 a pop. Whether Americans will be ready by then to trade in their status limousines for a Korean badge remains to be seen.

You can't make a car ad with a camouflaged model, can you?

A keen observer has spotted Hyundai filming a commercial for the upcoming Tucson ix35 in Sydney, Australia. The upcoming SUV from the Korean automaker has been caught fully undisguised, for obvious reasons, and it is likely Hyundai is gearing up for a release rather soon. The ix35 is expected to make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September (next month).

The new Tucson ix35 is based on the Hyundai HED-6 ix-ONIC Concept which debuted at the Geneva show last March. It is also the next-generation Tucson but the model remains faithful to that concept and it seems as though Hyundai is transitioning the model's name and will someday drop the Tuscon moniker for good.

The ix35 will likely come with a new 1.6 liter engine Hyundai has developed which sports a robust 173 hp. A new diesel may also be in the offering, perhaps the 1.6 liter ISG coming to the Cee'd from sister brand Kia.

One can beat up on Hyundai (as well as Kia) for copying European styling in their designs and always being one step behind in technology. You can spot that in this model, with its Ford Kinetic Design-influenced headlamps and the hexagonal grill which resonates Audi. But they do build reliable cars and the technology they use is tried and true.

Simple good value may not be for everyone, some people need their car to have mojo too, but it can be a clever buy.

Hyundai has officially confirmed the luxurious Equus sedan will be launched in the United States.

Set to go to on sale in late 2010, the Equus (it will be renamed for the US) will attempt to compete with premium models from Lexus, BMW and Mercedes.

Hyundai's American president and CEO, John Krafcik, said "We showed the car (the Equus) at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, and the response was fantastic. Since then, we've had a fleet travelling around the country, capturing input from our dealers and consumers. Here, too, the response was extraordinarily positive, and similar to the market reaction to the award-winning Genesis, so we've decided to bring it to the U.S."

Look for official specifications and pricing information to be announced closer to Equus' US launch date.

Singapore is contracted to host formula one until 2012, and according to Bernie Ecclestone the city-state should not be worried about losing the event beyond that.

"It will stay," F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, the authority on the content of the sport's annual calendar, said in an interview with the Singapore newspaper Today.

It is believed the initial contract with Singapore, having last year hosted F1's first ever night race, contains an option for an additional two years beyond 2012.

"We are not going to lose Singapore, that's for sure," the 78-year-old added. "As long as Singapore is there, we will be there."

The event is known for being one of the highest-paying on the calendar, but Briton Ecclestone believes F1 is value for money for Singapore.

"I honestly think formula one has done a lot for Singapore. People know more about Singapore than they don't know about Singapore.

"As I always said it used to be for me a stopover on the way somewhere," Ecclestone said of the Asian republic. "It never seemed like a destination.

"And when you go to Singapore and have a good look, you realise it is a destination, that it is a nice place with nice people," he added.

The mayor of Montreal on Thursday confirmed that a final agreement to bring formula one back to the Canadian city is nigh.

The French language newspaper La Presse earlier reported that minor details and funding are now the only obstacles to reviving the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve event ahead of the 2010 season, after it was conspicuously absent from this season's schedule.

Responding to the reports, mayor Gerald Tremblay told Canadian media that a tentative deal with Bernie Ecclestone, who also hinted at the arrangement in recent interviews, has been reached.

The reports said a date for the race has not been set, but a provisional 2010 calendar is expected to be published within weeks.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Caught in the Flesh at Dealership

An anonymous tipster has sent us pictures of Toyota's redesigned 2010 Land Cruiser Prado (Lexus GX).

Taken at a Toyota dealership, the new photos reveal the Prado's aggressive front bumper and modernized rear end. Like the previous generation Prado, the new 2010 model features a distinctive greenhouse and side opening rear tailgate.

As we reported in yesterday's Prado brochure leak, the redesigned SUV boasts a luxurious interior with a multifunction steering wheel, heated front seats, and plenty of wood trim.

Power is expected to come from a 4.6-liter V8 engine with 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque, a healthy improvement over today's 4.7-liter V8 with 263 hp and 323 lb-ft of torque.

Look for the redesigned Toyota Land Cruiser Prado to be officially unveiled shortly.

One of America's best-loved muscle cars the Ford Mustang, has had a successful racing career in a number of series including NHRA, Grand-Am, IMSA, SCCA and NMRA. Missing from that list is NASCAR, the nation's premier racing series. Now Ford has announced that the Mustang brand will compete for the first time in NASCAR from the 2010 season.

"We're excited about Mustang coming to NASCAR," said Brian Wolfe, director of Ford North America Motorsports. "It's the most successful product nameplate in racing history, and it seems only right that it should be coming to the most popular form of racing in North America."

Official NASCAR approval has been finalised and production of parts will begin once the templates have gone through the required processes. Teams will then start testing during the autumn for the coming season.

"We're excited about the new car in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and particularly the new body styles such as the Ford Mustang," said NASCAR President Mike Helton. "It's going to be one good-looking race car."

The Mustang won't be the only Ford in racing however; the 2010 Fusion (Sprint Cup) and the 2009 Ford F-Series (Camping World Truck Series) are already earning their professional racing stripes.

Ford may be bringing some extra sizzle to the next Mustang GT.

U.S. auto magazine Car and Driver has spotted Mustang mules at a track event in Michigan sporting Pirelli P Zero Corsa r-compound tires, which would be an upgrade on the current Track Pack for the GT that features the mere Pirelli P Zero. Those top-grade tires can be found in far more expensive supercars such as the Lambo Gallardo LP560-4 and the Ferrari F430 Scuderia.

Ford engineers told Car and Driver that those "super-sticky" tires had improved the track time of the 2010 GT with the Track Pack option. Taking the laptime around the 1.88-mile (3 km) GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan from 1m39.7s to the lower end of 1m38s.

What also may be in store for the 2011 Mustang GT will be a new aluminum (32-valve) 5.0 liter engine producing about 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque (542 Nm). The new engine, referred to as the "Coyote", will make the GT more competitive with the Chevy Camaro SS, which sports 426 horses under the hood.

Please note: It is the 2010 model pictured above.

Nissan GT-R Nurburgring Rapid Response Vehicle

Người đăng: Car IN Club Thứ Tư, 12 tháng 8, 2009 0 nhận xét

The mysticism surrounding the current Nissan GT-R has gained another chapter after the car was chosen as an emergency vehicle at the Nurburgring's Nordschliefe. Having lapped the ‘Ring to record one of the fastest if not most controversial times, the GT-R "knows" this fabled track like the inside of its cylinder bores.

This special car is equipped with such items as a full roll cage and carbon fiber Recaro racing seats. To do its job properly it comes with a fire retardant tank which is situated at the rear passenger area, a functional hose reel and an equipment bay in the boot.

Mishaps have frequently happened at the Green Hell, even to reputable automakers (remember the R8 V10?). Therefore a vehicle like this is not just for show but is quite necessary. At a track that's over 20km long getting to the most remote spot can take up to a few minutes which can prove critical in saving someone's life.

Thanks to globalization, the British-built Honda Civic Type R will be exported to Japan early next year.

Set to be called the Civic Type R EURO, the new model will be sold in extremely limited numbers. While it may sound ironic that a Japanese automaker is importing "Japanese" cars, Honda's Swindon plant in England is the only place where the three-door Civic Type R is produced.

The car is powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces 201PS at 8,000rpm. This enables the hot hatch to run from 0-62 mph in 6.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of 146 mph.

Compared to a standard Civic, the Type R features aggressive styling, a 20mm wider rear track, sportier damper and spring characteristics, a 15mm reduction in ride height, and an improved steering setup.

Heavily camouflaged U.S. market Odyssey reveals little - the model is expected to go on sale in 2010 as a 2011 model

Very little news here, just the deer-in-the-headlights, nighttime capture of the next-generation, U.S. market Honda Odyssey doing some nocturnal testing somewhere stateside.

One can speculate that the family minivan will be somehow lower, given how it looks in the photo, but that may be very deceiving. For all we know, Honda may be testing its weight capacity and has the vehicle greatly overloaded.

The Odyssey will likely arrive at U.S. Honda dealerships sometime in late 2010 as a 2011 model. It will feature a new V6 petrol engine with improved emissions and economy numbers. Yes, all very vague.

These shots tell us little too, as the Odyssey is so heavily masked in black clothing it looks like a Goth teenager out for a rebellious night on the town.

It is pulling a trailer, though, which means Honda wants to make sure you can take your family camping with this thing once it's for sale. Sounds like fun.

iMotormag is reporting that this is, in fact, not the Z Vision Concept rumored to be headed to the Frankfurt motor show, as it was previously believed to be. A call put in to BMW had the Bavarian automaker deny that.

BMW claims this is a five year old design study car that is being moved from their design studio in Germany to be put into storage somewhere.

Our colleagues at iMotormag speculate that this concept may be a precursor to a possible, future BMW 3-Series GT. Or maybe not.

BMW will be premiering a new concept car dubbed EfficientDynamics Vision at the Frankfurt show next month alongside its new 5-series GT and the X1 compact SUV. It remains to be seen what that is.

Nothing to see here, folks, just move along, please.

BMW has officially unveiled their new 7-Series High Security models.

Designed for politicians and the world's elite, the new High Security sedans are the first vehicles in the world to be certified to BRV 2009. They also boast a stellar ballistic protection level rating of VR7, which means they offer resistance against most common assault weapons.

In order to meet these stringent levels of protection, BMW equips the cars with chassis reinforcements, reinforced armour plating, and an advanced "safety glazing" that offers added protection against certain kinds of attacks. Other changes include an armoured undercarriage, gap sealing (to prevent bullets/shrapnel from entering the cabin), and multi-layer laminated glass windows.

The car also offers an intercom system, an assault alarm, a fire extinguishing system, and an internal air supply system that automatically activates if a gas attack is detected. High Security models can also be outfitted with a center console-mounted machine gun case, integrated LED flashing lights, an acoustic signaling system, and security radios.

Like the standard 7-Series, the new High Security models are available with a 300 kW (407 hp) 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 or a 400 kW (544 hp) 6.0-liter V12. The 750Li High Security accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, while the 760Li High Security does the same task in 6.2 seconds.

Soul statement by Kia

Người đăng: Car IN Club 0 nhận xét

The Kia Soul concept car was launched at the Geneva Motor Show and latest reports show that a production model is in the pipeline just in time to be displayed at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
Above: Kia Soul concept car
The concept came in three models namely the Soul Diva, Soul Searcher and Soul Burner. The Soul Diva is for the young at heart who is fashion conscious hence the black, white and gold leather and…wait for it….glitter interior, not to mention “pony-hide” carpets. As for the Soul Searcher, it is the more tranquil of the three aiming at an inner peace with its leather finished bonnet and a tinge of leather in every other part of the car. And oh yes, lets not forget about the “bad-boy” the Soul Burn with its dragon tattoos on the bonnet and sports seats. The production car is said to retain some of the features that made it popular at the Geneva motor show. Lets hope no “pony-hide” will be included in the production model.
According to Gregory Guillaume (Chief Designer, Europe), “the all new Kia production car will appeal especially to the young-at-heart whatever their age!” and he goes on to say that it will serve as a “creative platform” to match the driver’s personality.
The soul will go into production in Korea early September and will be on sale early next year in Britain and will feature 1.6l petrol and diesel engines with a manual transmission and optional automatic with the diesel. Pros of this vehicle is the fact it has the stance of a SUV yet within the dimensions of a super-mini.

The official pics of the California GT have been released and soon enough it will be launched at the Paris Motor Show in October. This mid-sized roadster will only be built as a convertible with Ferrari’s first folding hardtop.
Ferrari always being renowned for its power and performance does not disappoint with the California GT with its 4,3 litre direct injection V8 engine producing 460bhp, mounted in the mid-front. This prancing horse can reach 0-100km/h in less than 4 seconds.

Its gearshifts are via a seven speed dual clutch transmission with F1-Trac traction control. It also houses Brembo carbon ceramic brakes which should help to bring this speedy horse to a sudden stop. Also in keeping with the rest of the new generation Ferrari’s, it will be built on an aluminium chassis as well as aluminium body panels.
More details about this car is expected to be releases prior to the Paris Motor Show. In the meantime join in on the Ferrari California GT countdown at http://www.ferraricalifornia.com/

2009 Renault R29 Revealed

Người đăng: Car IN Club 0 nhận xét

Just like Ferrari, McLaren or Toyota, Renault took the time to unveil their new 2009 R29 car for this year’s F1 Championship. Though the financial crisis got them too, the French managed to get a new sponsor - Total, who pumped some money for a new design that only needs to proves itself on the track. At the official presentation, Flavio Briatore got Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet to pull the cover off of the yellow beast and to pose together. Do you think they have a chance for 2009?

There’s big news in the F1 world these days. Apparently the current pointing system— introduced in 2002, that gives points to drivers up to the 8th place is no longer viable because it rewards consistent driving over outright winning. And they may have a point if you consider that for the last championship Lewis Hamilton only won 5 races while Felipe Massa proved to rule for six races. With that in mind, F1 bosses decided that for 2009, he who wins the most races … becomes the king. And in case there’s a tie (we can bet our paycheck on it) the old system will decide … Do you think that will change anything?

[via Autoblog]

Although many have complained (regarding the new regulations), the 2009 F1 Championship started this weekend. And it did with a huge bang, as a team that closed down last Christmas won the Australian GP. For Ross Brawn, his team and drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello the first race of the season in Melbourne was a dream start which has thrown the remainder of the 2009 season wide open. The big boys are scurrying around for answers, while there are many out there who believe that Ross Brawn has found a little secret to success that no one knows about.

Looks likea good year, isn’t it?
